Isabella is here! A dream come true!

She' s finally here! I can say that I've been waiting for this moment for 30 years and I could never have imagined anything this wonderful! Everybody has been asking me so here is her birth story:

I went to the doctor on Wednesday the 24th and the doctor said I was 1 cm dilated and that we needed to schedule an induction for Wednesday the 1st of July, in case she didn't show up before then. Nothing happened on Thursday.

On Thursday, before we went to bed Ben said: "Wake me up at 4 when you start to have contractions." I just laughed because I wasn't feeling anything. At 2 o'clock in the morning I woke up with cramps. They were not a big deal so I just went back to bed. At 3:30 I woke up with some pain and bleeding. I woke Ben up at around 4! Amazing how he predicted it! Then, I woke my parents up and my dad is a doctor so he started monitoring me. I called my doctor and he told me to go to the hospital if my contractions were about 10 minutes apart. When we started timing them, they were already about 3 minutes apart! Not too painful though. We headed to the hospital and when we got there I was 2 cm dilated. They decided to let me stay for a while and have me walk around and then I would be checked again so that they could decide if I were to stay or if they would send me back home.

After about 2 hours the doctor came to check me and we were all surprised! I was 6.5 cm dilated! From then on it was a mad scramble: they broke my water, nurses coming in and out of the room and the anesthesiologist being rushed so that I could get my epidural. I had an epidural and from then on , things started to go slowlier. Apparently, the epidural can slow things down.
I felt great, though. I slept for a couple of hours, visited with family and slept some more. They also gave me an epidural boost because I was starting to feel some pain. Finally, when they checked me I was 9.5 cm dilated and then 9.75. At around 4 it was time to start pushing. They had to turn off the epidural so that I could get move feeling and so that I could push.

I pushed for two hours. I know it sounds like a lot, but it was not bad at all. I didn't feel any pain.
Ben was great help! He counted and coached me. I definitely needed his support. My parents were there too it was a wonderful experience for everyone.

Isabella was born at 5:59 weighing 8lb 13oz and measuring 20 3/4 in. Beautiful, pink and perfect. We are so happy!
