Kosher dinner

Today we went to a Kosher Dinner at Temple Beth Shalom in the South Hill. My mother-in-law Robyn has friends who go there and they invited us to join. We had been to that Synagogue before for their son's Bar Mitzvah 3 years ago. The people there are extremely nice and friendly and there is always some fun form of entertainment. Very different and interesting and we had fun!

When we got there we were asked to sit and enjoy the entertainment while we waited for our turn to eat. Yiddish songs, a sketch of a Jewish mom calling her son and a band playing The Beatles were some of the performers there today. Really fun!

Isabella loves music and was really focused on the people playing and singing. She is so great! We can take her anywhere and we know she's going to behave well.

Then it was time to eat.
Here is what the plates we got looked like:

And the menus:

The slow cooked beef brisket and the potato knish were absolutely delicious! The carrots and apples were a little too sweet for me and I gave Isabella my dessert. We also had a slice of challah bread which was fabulous!

I liked the potato knishes so much, that I decided to do some research and find a recipe so I can try and make them sometime. Here is the one I chose:

It seems like all my posts revolve around food somehow. I'm incorrigible. Don't be like me.

The only thing that made me really sad was that whenever they have an event going on at the synagogue, they need to have the police come and stand outside checking bags as people go in. We live in a free country and people shouldn't have to be afraid of getting together to express and celebrate their beliefs and traditions. I totally understand why they need to do it but it saddens me to know they have reason to fear.

Peace, people! Peace!
